Biography
Dr. Arlene Huynh was recruited from Northern California to be the San
Diego LASIK Institute’s center director. Among her many honors, Dr. Arlene Huynh graduated from the nation’s best
optometry school – the University of California’s Berkeley school of optometry. She completed her undergraduate
studies at the University of California Los Angeles with a major in Psychobiology and a minor in Comparative
Literary studies.
While at UCLA, Dr. Huynh was actively involved in optometric community
service. She was a volunteer for the UCLA Jules Stein Mobile Eye Clinic and interned at the Jules Stein Contact Lens
clinic. She worked closely with the volunteer doctors at the Los Angeles Free Clinic, helping to provide free
eye exams and glasses for the Los Angeles community. She was a member of the Pre-Optometry Association and Alpha Chi
Sigma, a national professional chemistry fraternity. She continued her academic career in optometry at UC Berkeley,
one of the top optometry schools in the country.
At UC Berkeley Dr. Huynh was the mission coordinator for Vision
Optometric Services for Humanity, organizing and leading an optometric mission to Vietnam comprised of student
volunteers and doctors that provided glasses to more than 2000 Vietnamese men, women and children. She has been very
involved with Project Vietnam Foundation since 2006 and served as the assistant team leader for their summer mission
trips.
Dr. Huynh completed her clinical externships at the Palo Alto VA,
Miami VA, Alameda County Medical Center and Highland Hospital of Oakland, CA where she received extensive clinical
training with optometrists and ophthalmologists in primary eye care. She is licensed by the State Board
California in the practice of Optometry.
Dr. Huynh is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the national optometric
academic honor society.
She is also member of the California Optometric Association and the
American Optometric Association.
Dr. Huynh is passionate about the eyes and laser vision correction.
She is excited to be in profession where the intersection of science and technology improves the ability of people
to have their personal best vision in their everyday lives.
